WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT MUDDIFORDS COURT, CULLOMPTON

I was very excited to shoot this wedding of Amy and Rich which took place in Cullompton near Exeter. Trying to brand myself with a documentary type style of wedding photography, I was eager to get in amoungst it, and what better venue to have the before shots of the bride getting ready, than at Muddifords Court Country House, what a great place with fab owners, Pip and Nicky, a lovely couple who welcomed any photographic ideas I threw at them.

Amy stayed in the Oak room, which had tons of natural light flooding in. We had pre- arranged this room a few weeks before in the planning day, as we thought this would give us the best opportunity for good pictures.

We also used Muddifords Court bar area for a few shots, all the bridesmaids and Amy sat around getting some Dutch courage, not your everyday bar at all this one, full of old character, Bill Sykes from Oliver Twist wouldn’t have looked out of place in there, the whole place was perfect for capturing those true moments before a wedding.

A quick drive and we were at the church. Rich seemed calm and chilled when I got there, not as calm as Amy I wouldn’t have thought after being in that bar all morning, just kidding, but relaxed all the same. I knew one of his ushers from another lifetime, which was nice, this is why I love weddings, you just never know who’s going to show.

The pictures ran smoothly and really well, I was happy with what I got out of it, a natural look and feel I was hoping to achieve, along with the more obvoius wedding photographs. Arriving at the reception venue, The Weary Traveller, for a place not purposely built for holding large weddings and events, we seemed to have used every corner of it for pictures, sofas, chairs, bar area, door ways, and fair play to Amy I even made her climb through a small hedge with brambles to get one of the pictures I had in mind.

I hope you enjoy taking a look at the pictures, and thanks for your time.
