TRASH THE DRESS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Loved it all, a pre-drink livener in the bar at the Two Bridges Hotel, and we were ready to go trash a dress! Having previously photographed Michelle and Chris’s wedding at the same venue recently it felt good to go back and put a twist on things.

Michelle would be the first to admit that she’s as mad as a sack full of frozen badgers, but a photographers dream, when she asked me about this shoot I jumped at it. I knew Michelle would be a great model and up for it, and her chap Chris to be fair, who rocked up in his Moss Bros suit was chomping at the bit.

Michelle owns a wedding dress shop in Plymouth – Te Amo Bridal – so it felt more of a good idea to get her own wedding dress caked in mud.

The pictures are not all of Michelle splashed head to toe in mud, it was also another chance for the couple to have pictures taken together. If we were to go straight at it with the mud we would have been all finished in ten minutes flat, as Michelle would have got cold and fed up, which is fair enough, so it was a case of “nice un easy Trig” type thing from Only Fools and Horses Del Boy falling through the bar scene.

They both made the whole day fun, I had help from Cara Jenkinson, who got a great set of pictures too.

We must have been out there for a good hour and a half, in wheelbarrows, puddles, up trees, in the river, skips, the lot, until it came time for me to raise the bar. Scraping mud down the front of Michelle’s wedding dress felt scary if I’m honest, forbidden, but I did it anyway! The light was sitting right and the whole moment had a surge of atmosphere, Michelle also had a white umbrella with her and I thought it would be pretty cool to keep that pristine clean and white, in contrast to Michelle in her dress covered in mud.

I enjoyed it a lot, and want to do another one, for the record Michelle soaked her dress in the bath that evening, and all the dirt and mud came off.  So, any brides out there who fancy having this sort of photo shoot after your wedding day then get in touch through my website www.grwphotography.co.uk

Thank you for looking
