Holne Park House in the River Dart Country Park is one of my favourite wedding venues. Friendly staff, lovely grounds, beautiful rooms to get some good pre-wedding pictures of the bride and groom, big windows letting natural light pour in, it’s all there!
Sammi and James had good weather for their wedding, they could have had the ceremony outside, but chose to have it inside, Sammi’s not to keen on wasps and didn’t want to be doing “the wasp dance” walking down the aisle, which is fair enough, as there were a few knocking about and to be honest i’m not a fan of the yellow jacketed fiends either, so inside was a good call.
James’ dad surprised him by arranging to arrive at Holne Park by helicopter. I was following bride Sammi all morning so it was up to my second shooter and father-in-law to be Michael to cover James and his family landing. Michael was a great help and I very rarely these days shoot a wedding solo, my package has opened up to a second shooter on the day, even to the point of sticking with the groom all morning which gives an all-round feel with the finished DVD of both sides getting ready with friends and family.
The day went smoothly, and quickly, I never want to seperate the couple for too long from the wedding party and guests, I try and keep the couple portraits as brief as possible, get some nice natural stuff of them together, then put them back in amongst the guests, where they want to be, it’s what the majority of my couples want, and seem to appreciate this aspect.
They took advantage of another product I offer during the evening, which is my Prop box, this seems to be getting more popular and certainly a talking point during the evening. I reckon it’s a good mix of pictures you get at the finish product, some nice documentary style artistic wedding photographs during the day, then in the evening you can go as mad as a bag of chocolate frogs with the prop box.
There is always one guest who keeps on cropping up during the editing process with the Prop box, coming back for more prop box action, and this award went to Sammi’s sister Lisha 🙂
