WHAT IS AN ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?

I’m forever getting asked “what is an engagement shoot?” as soon as I mention to the couple that they get a free photo shoot at a location of their choice, followed closely by the questiondo we need one?”

Firstly it helps me to get to know the couple that have entrusted me to capture their day. Having been given this big responsibility I feel I owe it to my couples to do everything I can to ensure that on the day I am not adding to their anxiety, so the best way to help them relax is by showing them exactly what to expect before the wedding and this is where the pre-wedding photo shoot really proves to be so valuable.

Secondly, a pre-wedding photo shoot gives me the chance to take any misconceptions the couple may have about themselves and put their mind at ease by presenting them with a set of great photographs.

They may browse through pages and pages of pictures on my website of happy couples looking amazing on their own wedding day, but you cannot reinforce the trust as much as producing photographs of themselves, it’s then that the couple can feel a bit more relaxed come their big day as they have seen what we can all do behind and in front of the camera, together.

You then get a CD full of photographs for yourselves, where you can choose your particular favourite, and I shall mount it on a large piece of card, with your photo in the middle, and bring it to your wedding, for all your guests to sign.

For me it’s everything and above all, my couples need to be certain that I will do the best job possible. They need to be able to relax into the day and acknowledge my presence only as being there to document that day for them, Some pre shoots take place at the venue of the wedding itself, this again is highly beneficial, as with an additional seperate planning day also, by the time your wedding  arrives, you are completely certain of what to expect, or on the flip side of this, an engagement shoot can be wherever you so please. One couple had their first date at Go Ape tree top adventure park in Haldon Forest, so we did it there 🙂

Please take a look at some examples of engagement shoots…

Thank you for your time
